In-water sargassum interception & biochar

We address sargassum at sea and on the beach.

The tide brings the problem, and we collect it where it exists, on the water or on the beach. Then we turn it into clean carbon through pyrolysis to biochar.

A record crisis, a ready solution

The tide brings the problem. We meet it at sea and on shore.

Atlantic sargassum hit an all-time high in 2025 and keeps climbing. We collect it on the water and on the beach, protecting tourism, reefs, and coastal communities.

The cost of doing nothing

This is what a buried beach costs: tourism and livelihoods for years to come.

Left to land, sargassum rots on the sand, fouls the water, and drives visitors away. The influx will keep growing, so we work both at sea and on the beach.

Our mission

Defend the coastlines.

SeaSmart Global stops sargassum on the beach or at sea and turns it into clean carbon. We protect the tourism, reefs, and coastal communities of affected beaches and coastline.

Challenges of Sargassum

A record crisis, hitting where it hurts.

Atlantic sargassum hit an all-time high in 2025 and is climbing again in 2026. As the oceans become warmer, sargassum blooms intensify. SeaSmart Global uses satellite imagery along with ocean current data and other indicators to track blooms in real time and forecast where they will come ashore.

Our approach

Prevention and cleanup.

We intercept sargassum in the water with booms and vessels, and we protect the beach and deal with what lands onshore. De-watered and compressed on-site, it is converted through pyrolysis into biochar, a 200+ year carbon sink, alongside bio-oil and syngas.

The Challenge

Sargassum is surging, and the beaches keep getting buried.

Atlantic sargassum hit an all-time record in 2025 and is tracking higher in 2026. On affected front-line coastlines, severity climbs year over year.

Our solutions

Prevention and cleanup.

SeaSmart defends your coastline through an efficient Systematic Process.

Our efforts are dedicated to maintaining your pristine beaches experience for our clients across the US East Coast, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean Islands. We protect the beach and collect the sargassum that lands onshore, not only intercepting it at sea.

We ensure your blue economy through a Zero Emissions Green Solutions Process, and we boast experience working across North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean Islands.

What we protect: clear water and open beaches. SeaSmart intercepts sargassum offshore so it never lands.
STEP 1

Collection

On the water or on the beach, we collect sargassum where it exists.

STEP 2

Reduction

A corkscrew process removes water on-site, reducing volume and haul cost.

STEP 3

Pyrolysis

Converts biomass through a thermal process with zero emissions.

Impact & green

Three carbon wins in one operation.

We intercept sargassum before it rots and turn it, along with other coastal waste, into lasting value through pyrolysis. One process, three ways it pays back the climate.

1. Carbon credits

Biochar output generates durable, monetizable carbon-removal credits.

2. Green credits

Processing other once-biomass waste streams the thermal process can accept adds further green credits.

3. Electricity potential

Residual energy from the pyrolysis process can feed back into the local grid.

Built to run year-round, the process can turn a continuous stream of coastal waste into biochar and lasting carbon value.

Deployment

Where we're deploying first.

We are deploying first on the Eastern Coast of the United States, Central America, and South America.

United States, East Coast

American Atlantic beaches, a parallel track for the U.S. coastline.

Central America

Central American beaches and coastline, one of our lead operating regions.

South America

South American beaches and islands, as remediation expands across the region.
